A person who contaminated candy with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two young males aged nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.
However, he denied one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he managed.
Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge the man had engaged in this activity with the children "for many years", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.
The legal representative continued: "Recently" his family member had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.
"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC said items including infant oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She explained the man continued to play the "sweet game" with six boys that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining the police response of the events.
The prosecutor stated the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement once more.
She explained the man then engaged in the "candy game" in a room of five youngsters.
